Trampoline is a competitive sport in which athletes use the rebound of trampoline to perform acrobatic skills in the air. It belongs to a kind of gymnastics and is known as "air ballet".
Modern trampolines originated in France, and then trampolines gradually became popular, and soon they became popular in the United States. In 1947, Texas held the first national trampoline exhibition competition, and trampoline became an official competition a year later. In 1964, the International Trampoline Federation was established in Switzerland, and the first World Trampoline Championships were held in the same year. In 2000, trampoline was included in the Sydney Olympic Games.
The highest organization of trampoline sports is the International Gymnastics Federation, which was established in 1881 and is headquartered in Switzerland. The main activities are to organize the Olympic gymnastics competition and the World Cup gymnastics competition every four years, and the World Gymnastics Championships every two years.
